Here's my entry to the Sulit Christmas Card Contest. I really put my heart and soul to this piece which went through many editing and re-editing. It started with a free-hand sketch of a family celebrating Christmas. The first few drafts weren't that good and didn't really capture the whole "21st century" Christmas. I did it again, adding a few details like a PSP and a computer, but still retaining the traditional spirit like a parol, the lights and of course the family all together.
I ended up with a 2500 px wide image, far over the contest limit of 400x300. It was sad that I had to resize and crop it up, losing some detail. However, I found a good solution: animate it such that it will pan across the image and still remain in the prescribed size.
I'm very pleased with the result, it really captures the warmth and joy of the Christmas season. If I don't win, this will make a great addition to my art portfolio.
